George Blumenthal inaugurated as UCSC's 10th Chancellor
UC Santa Cruz Chancellor George Blumenthal was inaugurated at an on-campus ceremony Friday, June 6, 2008.
The event took place beneath a spectacular pavilion erected on UCSC's East Field for the occasion. It drew more than 1,000 guests from the campus, surrounding community, and colleges and universities across the country. UC Board of Regents Chairman Richard Blum presided over the traditional investiture ceremony, which included a student acappella choir, brass ensemble, and mariachi band. It was followed by a reception for all attendees.

Student Achievement Awards
Chancellor Blumenthal's inauguration was planned to coincide with UCSC's 2008 Student Achievement Awards ceremony which took place on the East Field on the afternoon following the inauguration and inaugural reception. Hundreds of awards were presented to undergraduate students for outstanding scholarship and research.
